I have a 2002 Buick Rendezvous. Yesterday it wouldn’t start, no power to anything. Charged the battery and it started and ran. This morning it started once but the second time same problem. Tried charging the battery and no luck. Checked battery it is good. I’ve been checking fuses and such, a couple times the overhead light will come on when I open the door, then it goes back off. No power to anything at all.
ProTech:
How do you know the battery is good? How was it tested?
I took it to Autozone and had it tested. They suggested ignition switch issues.
Can you tell me the results of the test? Cold Cranking Amps? Voltage?
Voltage 12.54, measured 673 cca – rated 700 CCA.
OK good that is some decent results. It could very well be an ignition switch issue. A good way to test is to put the key in the ignition and tap on it or wiggle it back and forth to see if you can make connection.
And if it will connect?
Then you know for sure you have an ignition switch problem and it should be replaced.
It won’t connect at all.
it could still be the switch, but may need some more diagnosing.
Is it possible there are other electrical issues that replacing the ignition switch out won’t fix?
Anything is possible…you could have a faulty body control module, or other computer as well. This would need looking at by a technician to really know for sure.
Thank you!
Nothing shows on the dash panel…no lights, no gas gauge, no speed…everything seems to have shut down…the sensor must be gone…my mechanic cannot seem to find a solution.
This is not just one sensor that control the dash. You could have a bad instrument cluster, a faulty body control module, or a wiring problem somewhere. A problem like that really needs to be diagnosed in person.
One more question, is this a problem that this model has had problems with, maybe….am wondering if it would be under the warranty, although it is a 2005 Buick Lacrosse.
It is not familiar to me as a common problem on your vehicle. It would not be under factory warranty anymore since your car is out on time, and probably mileage as well. If you have an aftermarket warranty, it may cover the repairs once a technician has diagnosed it.
Thank you so much for your help…I appreciate you taking the time..have a good evening. All the Best, thanks again.

buick 2002 rendezvous error p 0405 will cause the check engine light to come on but then a couple of days later it s off and stays that way for a few weeks is this normal?
No, not normal. P0455 is a large EVAP system leak. Try replacing the gas cap and clear codes.
Hello, I am having the same trouble as described above. Everything on the dash went out today; speedometer, temperature and gas gauges, gear panel and door locks. The car drove a good twenty minutes, and then once turned off it will not start again.
Did you figure out the problem with yours?
02 rendezvous 3.4. Replaced bad motor with a 4000 mile motor. Before dropping in I installed new head and intake gaskets. New plugs and wires. Engine now shows cylinder 1 and 6 constant misfired on obd2 scan tool. Checked plugs, wires, and ignition coils for proper spark. All ok. Removed and cleaned throttle body. Checked injector balance, all good. Tested all injectors on scan tool by shutting each one down separated. rpm dropped with each injector. Did compression test average is 190 per cylinder. No signs of coolant loss. No signs of a pressurized coolant system. All vacuum hoses and upper intake areas sprayed with carb cleaner and no engine change in rpm. Turn on a/c and motor runs great. Could this be a bad or missed ground. Checked for missed did find any. Please any ideas would be great. Ready to burn the whole car.
Answer: Seems like all the normal items check out. Maybe you could have possibly switched the pushrods around on number 1 and 6 cylinders? The intake and exhaust pushrods are different lengths and if switched will cause a misfire, but all other checks would be fine…compression, spark, fuel, etc. You might want to recheck your work and engine installation to just make sure everything was connected properly and such.
