2006 Chevy Trailblazer with 4200 engine and 50,00 miles. why a cylinder #4 and #6 leak?
ProTech:
What kind of leak?
Sorry 50,000 miles. the dealer said they did a leak down test.and the head has to come off for repair. $3,ooo job they say and told my wife vehicle is not worth fixing . Give me a break!!
The 2005-2007 models had cylinder head problems. If you call and complain to GM about it, and have records of proper maintenance, they will probably end up fixing it for you for free.
I work as a heavy duty truck mechanic. I do all the general maintenance on my 06 trailblazer. I hope Chevy will stand by their product and do the needed repairs. I change the fluids and maintain the vehicle regularly but do not have receipts. Is this a big problem?
It probably will be. In fact, I just wrote an article about how keeping your receipts for the do-it-yourself person is very important when you need a major repair at the dealer. They will want to know that it’s been properly maintained, if you can’t provide receipts, they won’t take just your word for it. Also, they can site abuse very easily as the cause and will tell you that you’re on your own. It’s worth a shot to give GM a call, the worst they can do is tell you no. Plus if you’re a mechanic, you may try and save some money and do the job yourself. Also if you haven’t given the dealership that the vehicle is at a lot of business over the years, they are very less likely to help you out.
Great, thanks for the information !
Your welcome.

5 Comments on "2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer Engine Light And Misfire Codes"
my 2006 trailblazer has “random-multiple misfiring cylinders”, #5 cylinder misfire, and one other code with something to do with pccm i think. i had one code the other day for cam sensor, so i replaced that and everything seemed fine until the next morning the other codes popped up and now the car stalls everytime i stop at a light and takes a few tries to start up. i just replaced the spark plugs and direct ignition coil boots but still no change. any idea what else it could be?
My 05 trailblazer engine light had been coming on and off but driving fine I had all 6 plugs replace and cylinder 6 coil cam selinode and cam position sensors changed throttle cleaned and now after that it’s running rough and stalling and cutting off I need help
Engine overhall and start engine good starting no missing and one day after engine missing what probleum
Check for possible worn valves and valve seats. This causes a lean condition at idle on the 4.2L engines.
I have 2002 chevy trailblazer check engine light not on but when at idle in park you can go to rear of truck and hear misfire replaced all six plugs I have not replaced any coils I get about 17 mpg what should I do ?
