Ford Taurus 2001 runs rough and skips

Hello. I have a 2001 ford Taurus V6 ohc engine and when I start it up it skips and runs rough for awhile and will eventually clear up and run perfect. And also it does hesitate once in awhile after it has warmed up. I replaced the temperature sensor but it still acts the same. What should I do to solve this problem?

Answer: Check for a leaking fuel pressure regulator. If it is, this is causing a rich condition- basically the engine is flooded like in older cars.

Check for a vacuum leak.

Check for misfiring spark plugs or plug wires.

Check for poor gas quality.

Check fuel pressure.
