Ford explorer temp gage

      I have a 99 ford explorer and the temp gage goes to the really high point of the thermostat. Hasn’t over heated. The gage goes back down after a few minutes then goes back up. Very frustrating. The check gages light comes on when its all the way up. Please help.

      If the gauge is going all the way up, then it IS overheating. Check coolant level.If it is OK then change the thermostat.
