Can someone tell me how to change the water pump on this car. Hoping to help my mom get this done.
It’s actually a pretty easy repair on the 2.2 engine. You need to remove the belt first, by releasing the tensioner enough to slide the belt off any of the pulleys. Then, the water pump pulley can come off, just the four bolts holding that on. After the pulley is removed, you can see the bolts for water pump itself. Remove those and take the water pump out, it might need a nudge if it’s stuck. Clean the GASKET area very good and then install the new water pump and new gasket. Reverse the order of these instructions to go all back together. Fill with COOLANT and bleed the system. Done!
If you end up needing a bit more room to work with, you can put a jack under the engine, remove the upper motor mount and then jack the engine up a bit and that will make a little more room to get your hands in there. Easy!
