I have a 1994 probe gt 2.5l v6 and need some help on figuring out how to replace a wire that got ruined by the alternator belt. The harness where the wire comes from is clicked onto a bracket directly underneath the main radiator cap on the left side of the engine looking under the hood. It runs down behind the oil stick and i cant figure out what its connected to (its a tight squeeze). Also could that wire being shorted cause the alternator to not charge the battery or cause a short with a constant battery drain? I get 14.3 volts on the multimeter at my battery terminals when running (having to jump it of course) but as soon as i turn off the engine and try to start it back up the battery is too weak to crank it over. The battery is brand new. Any suggestions or help is appreciated.
RE: A new battery doesn’t mean it’s any good. If your system is charging and the battery still won’t crank the car after you shut it off, I’d get the battery checked. It could have a bad plate or cell inside which isn’t letting it take a charge properly. Replace the battery if necessary. Fix the wiring you describe, and yes it could cause the alternator not to function if bad enough.

Ok thanks, ill have the battery checked out. But my main reason for posting is about that wiring. Im trying to look online for a wiring diagram or replacement, but with no knowledge of what its for or called i have had no luck. Buying a repair manual seems expensive for a little wire and was wondering if anyone on here may be able to help me with finding its purpose or had a manual already and knew what it was.

Hard to say what wire it is without actually seeing it in person, especially since it’s such an old, outdated model of car…but if you can repair it, that’s all the matters. Fix the wire if it’s shorted or broken and be done.
If you used a factory plug converter then your radio is probably bad, if you did the wiring yourself then check your splices and get a diagram for the wiring before you send the radio back. If you want a easy way to wire the radio in correctly the first time go for new converter cable for your radio and vehicle.

On my escort I had to replace the sway bar bushings and bolts since one of them snapped now when I drive on wet roads the rear end tends to drift to the left I found that the bar from the rear wheel and goes to the frame is bent on the driver’s side and causing the rear end to be off balance I’ve looked everywhere for that same part and can’t find out the name of it or anything that looks like it i even took a picture of it because I can’t figure out what it is

Sounds like you are talking about a rear stabilizer bar. Take the picture a parts store and they will be able to find it.
