A fuel delivery system in which electrically controlled nozzles (injectors) spray fuel into the intake manifold or cylinders as needed, allowing for more precise fuel control and better fuel efficiency than can be achieved with a carburetor.
Diesel engine have always had fuel injectors. Gas engines have been fuel injected mainly since the mid 1980’s.
